.....And so it goes, giving birth to Christopher David  was the easiest thing in the world to do - well, according to his Dad.  Then again, I've never heard his Mam complain, either.  Having said that, losing him at the age of eighteen, in a catastrophic motor vehicle incident, whilst a passenger going to do a job of work, travelling along the M1 and in rush hour traffic, is the hardest, possible pain in life - a pain beyond endurance.

We are still at a point where the magic has died, but, we know we shouldn't let it - he was not the kind of guy who would condone that for one minute - he loved life and lived it with passion, as though life was a beautiful woman and he was madly in love.

Food, on the other hand, was a necessity and simply fuel to keep his fire stoked.  Two weeks before he left us, we asked, what was his favourite food?  He replied, 'Pizza Hut,' much to his Mam's dismay.   Hmmm!  The ladies at Ainsley's bakery loved him - he would venture in each day and order his favourite -  egg and ham on white and one on brown.  He would always include a pink, iced finger and fresh cream doughnut - he loved those!  They knew he was a huge football fan and simply thought he'd gone off to watch the World Cup, when he hadn't been in for his usual lunch time order.

Chris, known as Blacky to his closest friends, was at an age where horizons were broadening to a wider world - new friends, venues, good times - everything was happening and life was rockin'.

For Chris, let's make the best of our lives, as a tribute to him.  Let's pick up the magic and, instead of throwing it off and casting it into the ether - let's glean from his incredible example and live our lives the way he would have wanted us to - the way he would have done, if fate hadn't dealt him the cruelest blow, through no fault of his own.

Christopher David Black was never going to be anything but special.  Even before he was born, there was something about that rounded bump that filled everyone with great expectation and excitement.

His beautiful life began 22nd January 1988 but, in the eyes of those he touched emotionally, he is that rare and precious diamond in the coal, and will come to sparkle more and more as years and time go by.

Writing Christopher's story could never do justice to the one we love, unconditionally.  Maybe in time, when wounds are less raw, our minds will capture the rascal, the friend, the cousin, the son, the brother and the nephew  - then, our hearts won't flounder, through ache, pain and unbridled love and his story, in words, will be told.

For now, we celebrate his life through the greatest medium in the arena of the world, the internet. As a young man, Chris loved fine, classic and expensive things - he had a certain feel for the good life and living life to capacity - he loved love even more!  How can we tell?  The diamond in the coal glistens through the darkest days, and the man on the verge of every tomorrow gave us reason to keep the sparkle alive.

Anyone who knows Chris, who would like to write or add a picture -  anything at all to think about him, please contact us through our e-mail address and if appropriate, we will find a moment on his web site to accommodate your gesture.
